(I made a wish for Lebanon) 🇹🇭 🙏🏻 🇱🇧
Not the right Time⁣ ⁣ @time yesterday published on their Instagram account a selection of photos shot by @myriamboulos taken during the ongoing protests in Lebanon. In return, and instead of fame, Myriam has been receiving thousands of hate messages and even threats.⁣ ⁣ Obviously and ironically, Time probably didn’t publish those photos at the right moment. They also didn’t write the most accurate caption, and didn’t post the photos in the most flattering sequence and format (single IG posts). ⁣ ⁣ Do we have to blame and shame Myriam for that?⁣ ⁣ I’ve never been an unconditional fan of Myriam’s work, but I believe that this series in particular brings a strong, raw, and intimate perspective that we don’t see in many images.⁣ ⁣ What we’re witnessing today in the streets is about people, feelings, skin(s), hope and fear, but also anger, fire and broken glass. And there isn’t a “best” way to document that - this is what actually makes photography so rich.⁣ ⁣ So, is it the perfect way to portray the protests? No. ⁣ ⁣ But is it an angle worth exploring and looking at with an objective eye?⁣ Definitely.⁣ ⁣ In this precious period, let’s avoid hate speeches towards people who share the same dream, and put all our contagious energy, will and pride where it really matters. That’s how we’ll make that crazy and beautiful dream happen.⁣ ⁣ We’ll then argue for hours over a coffee on the “best” photos of the days that changed our lives. ⁣ ⁣ Love⁣ ❤️🇱🇧 ⁣ #لبنان_يتنفض⁣
